The BAMS compulsory rotatory internship lasts one year. Students of private BAMS colleges in Faridabad and other NCR cities rotate through Kayachikitsa, Shalya, Shalakya, Panchakarma and more. They take cases, assist procedures and keep a daily logbook. Some spend six months at a rural health centre.

Introduction

At some point, most BAMS students wonder what the internship really looks like. Many parents and students still believe it is only paperwork before the degree. A closer look at the rules shows a planned year with set postings, duties and checks.

This guide covers BAMS internship details, departments and duties. It is meant for those comparing private BAMS colleges in Faridabad and ayurvedic colleges in Gurugram. The rules come from NCISM, so they apply to every approved college. It also shows how DJ Ayurveda in Modinagar, Ghaziabad, trains its interns.

Why Aspirants of Private BAMS Colleges in Faridabad Check the Internship First

Classroom teaching ends before this year begins. Internship is when students treat real patients. Location matters too. Two lists we checked show no BAMS college in Faridabad itself and one in Gurugram. So many students also look at ayurvedic colleges in Gurugram and other NCR cities.

Skills Students Develop During the Internship

  • Procedure skills: suturing, dressing, Ksharasutra and Panchakarma steps
  • Emergency skills: first aid and referral of trauma cases
  • Communication: patient counselling on diet and lifestyle
  • Record keeping: daily e-logbook and case files
  • Public health: immunisation and national health programmes

Stipend During the BAMS Internship

NCISM says interns in government institutions should get a stipend equal to other medical systems. It gives no amount. On 9 October 2026, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet raised the stipend for government Ayush interns from ₹7,500 to ₹15,000 a month. Private colleges set their own rates, so ask before admission.
